LULAC CONDEMNS ICE RAIDS AT CORSO’S NURSERY IN SANDUSKY, OHIO
On Tuesday, June 8, more than 100 workers were seized by ICE in a large-scale raid at Corso’s Nursery in Sandusky.  Those who were not caught in the ICE raid are currently fleeing the city with their families.
Approximately 60 children are currently in daycare centers or with baby sitters because their detained parents cannot pick them up. We don’t know what will happen to them. What we do know is that many of these children will be funneled into the foster care system or placed in detention.
We also know that many of the detained workers will soon be deported. Many of them are moms and dads, leaving dozens of children behind. We are saddened and outraged by this heartless practice.
“LULAC opposes the division of families. This raid targeted workers. Some of them are U.S. citizens. Constant targeting of Latinos is unacceptable. It disrupts the community and creates emotional stress among families,” said Laura Moese, LULAC Ohio State Director.
LULAC requests the community to call their representatives in government and urge that they contact ICE to demand that the detained workers be released and reunited with their families.
